The International English Language Testing System or IELTS as it is more popularly known, is the world’s most popular English Language Proficiency test for further education and migration to a foreign country where English is the dominant language.
A vast suite of educational institutions, employers, governments and professional bodies trust and recognize IELTS as the preferred English proficiency examination for aspiring students, professionals and migration applicants.
The IELTS exam is structured and designed to test the proficiency of an applicant in the four skills of the English language – Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening.
Scoring
All IELTS scores are between 0 to 9 band with the possibility of getting a .5 score in each skill. Example a test taker could get a 6 band in speaking but a 6.5 band in reading.
Each skill is scored between 0 to 9 bands with an overall score in the same range. The overall band score is an average of the band scores of all the four skills.

The IELTS exam has two variants:
Academic IELTS
The Academic IELTS is structured to test the level of English proficiency of the test taker applying for an Academic or professional training endeavor at an Institution in an English Speaking country. The test simulates the academic requirements of English and evaluates if the test taker is ready to proceed with the professional training or studies applied for.
General IELTS
The General IELTS is structured to test the English proficiency of the test taker in an everyday social and workplace context.
The test simulates the workplace and social requirements of English and evaluates if the test taker is ready to deal with the professional and social requirements in an English speaking country.
The registration fee for the IELTS Exam is Rs. 21,500.
What is IELTS Cancellation Fees?
IELTS can be taken as a paper-based or computer-based exam. It consists of four distinct papers which, when taken together, will take you two hours and 45 minutes to complete. Question formats range from multiple choice and sentence completion to written responses and summaries.
You’ll receive your IELTS results 13 days after taking the test.
